Desired Character Godric Rykker
Character Gender Male
Character House Rykker
Character Alignment Loyal to House Rykker and House Baratheon of King's Landing
Character Appearance
Godric's face is full but angular, giving him the look of a man who always ready to strike. His eyes are a dark grayish blue that are complementary with his tan skin tone and sandy hair. He is stands tall at six foot, one inch and he is the perfect weight of one hundred and eighty-five pounds. His arms, chest, legs and back are all very well muscled, as one would expect a knight to be. His sandy brown hair just barely hangs to his neck, giving him a rough and rugged look. He keeps his face covered with a full beard, though it never runs wild or is unkempt.
His steel blue eyes are what Godric considers his best feature. Women tend to call his eyes enchanting. His eyes have a dark ring of blue around the cornea and an odd sort of grayish-steel color filling in the rest of the space around his pupils. This odd color combination is what causes people to stare into Godric’s eyes. They have seen blue eyes before and gray eyes before but seeing eyes that have both gray and blue in them is rare.
As a member of the nobility, Godric stays well kept unless he is on manuevers in the field. His hair is straight, and usually at least combed. To go with his natural coloring, Godric sticks to earthy colors such as browns and varying shades of blue for his shirts. An interesting quirk about Godric is that he nevers wears jewelry of any sort. He particularly hates gold, saying it’s too flashy and bright.
Character's Goals
Character History thus far
The third son of Lord Renfred Rykker of Dun Fort and his wife Lady Lucia, formerly of House Manning of the Crownlands, Ser Godric has always outshone his brothers, despite his low birth order. His eldest brother, Alester, was born slightly frail and was never terribly athletic, leaving him unable to live as knight and a soldier. Alester, instead, was the quintessential noble’s boy, reveling in his elevated status and savoring the good life as heir to his father’s place as the Lord of House Rykker and Dun Fort. His second brother, Pelleas, was very studious, going to study at the Citadel to become a Maester as soon as he was able. Godric, though, was the son his father had always wanted. He was smart in the ways of warfare and a strong boy, quickly taking to swordplay almost as soon as he was old enough to walk.
Alester rejoiced the day Godric was sent to Lord Staunton to serve as a squire at age ten because he was tired of his younger brother getting the praise from their father that the heir felt rightfully should be his. Godric regretted the fact that his own brother seemed to have hatred towards him but he and Pelleas got along well enough, despite their differences in personality.
During his tenure with Lord Staunton of Rook's Rest, Godric earned his reputation as a good and proper squire. With his sharp mind and a strong arm, he won melees and minor tournaments until Lord Stokeworth hosted a tournament at his castle. During one of the jousts, Godric was attending his lord in the stands when a fragment of a lance flew straight at Lord Staunton. Godric leapt in front of the shrapnel without hesitation, taking it on the shield he was going to use in his own joust, just three matches away. Staunton, grateful for his life, bestowed on Godric his spurs and knighted him before his next ride. After the tournament, which he managed to win, Godric held his vigil and was anointed by the Septon the next day.
Upon being raised to knighthood, Godric returned home to Dun Fort where his father welcomed him home with open arms, holding a feast in his honor. His eldest brother again was full of jealousy, angry at his brother’s reputation that only seemed to grow and grow. Godric, now Ser Godric, acted as the head of his father’s guard when he was not at tournament or on maneuvers. He served during the Greyjoy Rebellion, acting as commander to both his father’s garrison and that of Lord Staunton after their original commander was killed in a battle.
He was recognized by King Robert Baratheon for his service and as such, he was invited to court and tournaments until he won the tournament for Prince Tommen’s third name day. For this, he was given his own lands and estate nestled in between that of his family's hold of Dun Fort and that of Rook's Rest.
Character Personality
Courageous, funny, easy-going and loyal are the terms that best describe the traits found in Godric Rykker.
The word courageous is one bandied about all too often by knights eager make a name for themselves. However, Godric is most definitely courageous, especially when it comes to protecting his family or those he has sworn vows to. He would do anything to ensure the safety of his family, including sacrficing his own life for them. Anyone who dares to even think about insulting House Rykker will very quickly find themselves on the wrong end of an angry knight. His mood will greatly decrease if, in fact, said person is actually attempting to harm his family. Then, in Godric’s mind, they’ve already signed their death warrant. This is when Godric's courage can transform into viciousness. There are no limits to how far the knight will go when he feels someone he cares for is being threatened. He will end the threat, everything else be damned.
Godric is not all anger and violence, though. He has an excellent sense of humor. He’s no prankster but he certainly knows how to tell a good joke. In fact, quite a few of the dirty jokes currently circulating Dun Fort probably have their origins with Godric. He is great at impressions, knowing just how to mock one of his fellow noblemen without going too far. Those he lets see this side of him love his comedic timing and like nothing more than to sit around a tavern, cracking jokes with the knight. However, not many ever get to see this side of him, outside of those he trusts, namely the men he has served with and his family.
Another key aspect to his personality is the fact he is incredibly easy-going. One has to poke him with a huge stick several times before he will lash out in anger. However, he does have a few ticks that will set him off in an instant. These are mainly things related to his his family or questioning his honor. Everything else is secondary. Go ahead, call him stupid. Name-calling doesn’t affect Godric because he is self-confident. Once he does get angry, though, the best thing to do is to take cover and wait out the storm. When angry, Godric tends to lose all of his ability to be rational, doing whatever he can to smash, break, destroy or otherwise maim whoever was foolish enough to get in his way.
Loyalty is something that is at the very core of who Godric is. The knight is loyal unto death to his family, his House, and his King. Everyone else, well, they come second. No promise of wealth or power could ever change how Godric feels about his family. He would gladly sacrifice himself before he’d ever allow harm to come to them. Once the knight gives his loyalty to someone, they have it for life. So it is with his friendship as well. Once he gives it to you, he will never waiver from your side. Woe be it to you if you betray him, though. Betrayal is the ultimate sin in Godric's mind and is punishable by death. A traitor deserves nothing less.

Sample Roleplay Nerves began to shake and rattle as the plane took off, carrying Bastion and a few other daring souls up to jump height. Today was his eighteenth birthday and today he was going to jump out an airplane. What better way to celebrate the freedom of becoming an adult than to fling himself out of something miles above the earth. It made perfect sense to him, even if it didn’t to anyone else. His mind, his reason was all that matter anyhow. He could be only who he was, no more, no less anyway. Stuffed into what he assumed as a polyester jump suit, Bastion noticed that he was sweating more than he normally did. He quickly attributed this to his excitement at finally getting to skydive. He’d been wanting to for the longest time but the company had refused to take him up without the signature of a parent. His mother would never have signed it and his father, well, they hadn’t spoken in nearly four years. There was no way in hell he was going to be the one to break their silence to ask for permission to jump. Instead, he had simply waited until he turned eighteen and now he was on his way.
The plane continued to climb higher and higher and Bastion looked over the faces of his fellow divers. One of them was a pasty green color and looked quite like he was about to vomit at any minute. Bastion resolved that he would be sure to jump after that fellow as he didn’t want puke on him. Two of the other divers were female and quite beautiful if he did say so. Mayhap after it was all over, he would chat them up. Now was not the time for that sort of matter. The last jumper of their crew was a dark-haired man, probably in his mid to late twenties who had the brightest green eyes Bastion had ever seen. He also happened to be the one who was going to be strapped to Bastion during his first sky dive to insure he wouldn’t die. How incredibly lucky was he. An attractive guy and two beautiful women. Today was truly shaping up to be his day. The plane started leveling off and the pilot signaled to the instructor that it was time to jump. The door was opened by Vomit-boy as Winstead had named him in his head and Bastion moved closer to his tandem jump partner.
All of the lines were hooked and fastened and Green-eyes gave all the jumpers the thumbs up. It was now or never. The two females pushed Vomit-boy out of the plane. The first one, who was wearing a yellow suit, counted to five then leapt out of the airplane as well. The second woman, girl, whatever you wanted to call her, followed the same basic procedure then dove head first out of the door. Only Bastion and Green-eyes remained in the plane.
“You ready?” the instructor shouted loudly, causing a grin to spread over Bastion’s face.
“Let’s do this shit!” he screamed back, pushing both himself and the instructor out of the vehicle. As soon as he did, Bastion felt nothing but extreme freedom as the air rushed past him. Adrenaline surged through his veins, giving him a rush of ecstasy matched only by what he felt on the football field. The pair dove through a low cloud, the rush accelerating just as much as they were during their plummet to the earth. The other jumpers had already opened their parachute. The instructor reached for the cord that would pull theirs but Bastion stopped him, wanting to enjoy the thrill just a bit more. The instructor complied for a few more seconds then pulled the chute anyway, jerking them both up as their surface area was expanded to slow them down.
Bastion breathed deeply, laugh and smiling. This was truly the best day of his life. He had never felt better than he in this one moment. Adrenaline continued to pump through his blood, increasing his pleasure with every beat of his heart. Green-eyes was in control of steering them towards the landing site and they stayed relatively close to the other members of their dive group. However, in an instant, Green-eyes’ hand slipped off of it’s controller, causing the pair to begin spiraling. The older man reached out to try to grab the control again but it was too far out of his reach. They were still relative slow, especially compared to what speeds they had reached only moments before. The ground was closing in on them, though, and this was going to be a most interesting landing. Bastion was dizzy out of his mind before his boots ever touched dirt but his survival instincts had taken over by then. When they were just three feet or so off the ground, Bastion released the parachute, pulled himself and the instructor into a roll, and was well on his way to a decent landing when he remembered about the extra weight on his back.
All of the force they two had picked up transferred via Bastion‘s arm to the ground with a sickening crunch. He knew in an instant his arm was broken and he highly suspected that the bone itself was currently sticking out. A quick glance down as the instructor stood them up proved his suspicions correct.
“Oh fuck me!” Bastion swore loudly, closing his eyes to the chunk of mangled flesh and bone that was his right arm. Pain radiated from the break but Bastion breathed through it. The retching sound he heard told him that someone had thrown up from the sight and he was fairly certain it was vomit-boy. Lovely. Here he was with a broken arm and someone else was tossing cookies. That made sense. This was going to be one long ass hospital visit, Bastion was certain.
