Character History thus far Joffrey was the first child born to Robert Baratheon and Cersei Lannister in the Red Keep of King’s Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. King Robert did not question the blood of his child; however fate had it that Joffrey was not Robert’s heir. Joffrey was the child of an incestuous romance between Cersei and her twin brother Jaime in order to keep the blood line “pureâ€. Oblivious to this fact Joffrey spent many of his young years trying to get into his father’s good graces, however every attempt he made seemed to fail worse than the previous.
Joffrey was not pleased to be forced to join his Father and Mother on their visit north to Winterfell, the seat of House Stark. The people of the North in Joffrey’s eyes were an inferior people, adorned in dirt covered garments and believed in pointless traditions of honor and the Old Gods. Joffrey’s view point of the people of the North changed somewhat when he laid eye upon Sansa Stark, the blooming rose in the winter wastes. The young man was somewhat pleased when he heard he was set to marry Sansa. She was a beauty of the Northern wastes and she seemed infatuated with him and did as she was told like any good wife to be would.
The stay at Winterfell was nothing of interest. Joffrey was “persuaded†by his uncle Tyrion to pay respects to the Stark’s for a terrible accident that had happened to their son Brandon. After doing so he was pleased to depart the cold Northern lands and headed South to King’s Landing with Eddard Stark, Sansa and Arya. The young prince enjoyed his time traveling to the warm Southern land’s he called home with Sansa riding beside him. The two young lovers ended up meeting with Arya and a friend of hers sparing with swords. Finding this to be a time to show off his prowess with a blade; Joffrey slashes Arya’s friend only to have the little girl and her direwolf attack him and nearly kill him. When telling his father what had happened Joffrey lied saying he was attacked for no reason. In response his parents order the death of Lady, Sansa’s direwolf. While deep down he knew he should have at least shown he cared for the death of the woman he was to marry and her pet he could not bring himself to as it honestly did not affect him personally.
After what had felt like an eternity Joffrey was back at the Red Keep, his home. Not much occurred during this time other than a few talks with his mother about what he would do to the Northern lands if he were king and her telling him that “anyone who isn’t us is our enemyâ€. His mother Cersei also suggested that he do something kind and nice for Sansa because of the loss of her pet direwolf. Taking heed to his mother’s words he presented Sansa with a golden locket fit for a queen and his wife to be. Sansa was pleased with Joffrey’s choice of a gift for her and that made the young blond happy, even though she should have been content with the fact that she was to marry him.
However Joffrey’s life was thrown upside down when his father was injured on a hunt by a wild boar. At his fathers side he listened as his father confessed that he wished he was there more for his “son†and saw him become a man. Joffrey was upset as he could never be able to make his father proud of him and get his respect while he was alive. Joffrey was sent out of the king’s room when Robert wished to speak to Eddard Stark alone. The young prince did not have much time to grieve. Within the day his father Robert Baratheon, king of the seven kingdoms and the king of the Iron Throne was dead. Joffrey was now the ruler of the kingdoms from the Iron Throne when he came of age.
Siting on the throne made of melted swords of the houses that were conquered or sworn fealty to the king Joffrey waited for Eddard Stark to appoint him King of the Iron Throne. However the filthy northerner had different plans stating that he was the protector of the realm and attempted to have Joffrey arrested. Thankfully his mother had put the pieces for the game of thrones in their favor and the coup by Eddard Stark was stopped in the throne room with the rest of the Stark garrison and entourage save for his queen to be Sansa murdered to prevent any other sort of Stark led uprising in King’s Landing.
Joffrey held court for his subjects to swear fealty to his reign on the Iron Throne. It was at this time when Sansa came forth and pleaded for mercy for her father. Joffrey wanted to refuse such a request. “if you have any love for me in your heart†the rose from the North did say. Those words were powerful enough to persuade him to grant leniency to the traitor only on the condition that Eddard Stark confess that Joffrey was the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
The time for Eddard’s public confession was at hand. As predicted by Sansa the lord of Winterfell confessed that Joffrey was the rightful heir to the throne. While his mother had requested that Eddard be sent to the Wall in the Northern wastes to live out his days Joffrey decided to be merciful to the traitor granting him a swift death by beheading in front of the traitors daughter and the subjects of King’s landing. Placing the heads of the Stark entourage on pikes he presented them to Sansa promising that her Robb, her brothers head would be joining them shortly and that they were to be married when she was of age.
Character Personality
Joffrey is a spoiled child that lacks any kind of responsibility. The boy had not even fought in a battle so far in his life and lacks experience ruling from the Iron Throne. He has an uncontrollable temper and hardly can fathom the difference between right and wrong. He is prone to making bad choices and decision believing his decisions to be best for the kingdom and its subjects. When things do end up turning out badly he takes his frustration and blame out on others as in his mind he can do no wrong. As of the moment Sansa had become his key victim in the blame game. Blaming the bride to be for the victories of the Banners of the North.

Sample Roleplay
â€What?!†the young blond king barked at the messenger that stood before the Iron Throne. To think that all his life Joffrey wished to sit upon the throne forged of many swords from the lords of the past. It was supposed to be easier than this. How was he to know that the execution of one traitor would lead to the brutes from the Northern lands to march upon the Iron Throne in wrath? Rising from the throne he looked down at the messenger that stood there in fright. Who would not be frightened in a situation like this? Joffrey was one that never took kindly to bad news. â€Send a message to my Grandfather.†he said bitterly to one of the guards of his court. â€Tell him he needs to do better than this. How can we be losing to the grunts from the North?†he added his voice strewn with anger. â€As for you messenger. You will never be able to speak bad tiding such as this to me ever again†the young king said before nodding to the mute knight Sir Ilyn. It seemed only fair that the knight that lost his tongue to the mad king take the tongue of the one that brought bad tidings to King’s Landing.
Pondering the news as he sat upon the Iron Throne the young king tightened his right hand into a fist. There had to be someone to blame for this misfortune. There always was, there would always be as the King could do no wrong. It had to be Sansa, his bride to be. She had something to do with the victories of the Northern armies. The woman was the off spring of a traitor after all. â€Bring Sansa to the court. She needs to be made an example off.†he said coldly to one of his servants. While the North may have won a victory today, their beloved Sansa would pay dearly for their crimes. Everyone needed to know that it was wrong to cross Joffrey Baratheon King of the seven kingdoms and that any who did so would pay dearly for their crimes.
