Character History: ----Tyrion Lannister was the third child and second son of Tywin and Joanna Lannister, sadly his mother died giving birth to him, something that some members of his family, particularly his father sister, have held against him all his life. Beyond that Tyrion was born a dwarf, a unfortunate circumstance that he himself has pointed out that if he was born to a poor family may have caused them to dispose of their child. Tyrion’s childhood was hard, his father resented him, his sister tormented him, but he always showed his intelligence and determination. As the years went by he managed to distinguish himself in his own small way, he studied hard and became an expert scholar. He could never enjoy the normal pursuits people of his class usually enjoyed and was shunned by most people he met. He did manage to form a close relationship with Jaime and the two brothers cared deeply for each other. A defining incident of his life was when at the age of thirteen he was married, Jaime and Tyrion had been riding and come across a common woman being attacked by bandits. While Jaime pursued the bandits Tyrion looked the woman, Tysha. It was not long before the two fell in love and married, Tyrion amazed to find a woman who wouldn’t just him as a dwarf. They married in secret but not surprisingly his father found out and took matters into his own hands. Jaime confessed to Tyrion that the girl was a prostitute he had hired for Tyrion, and Lord Tywin had his guards all sleep with Tysha, paying a piece of silver, and finally Tyrion, who paid gold. Tyrion’s feeling towards his father never recovered.
When Tyrion turned sixteen he was not allowed to travel, as many nobles did, but instead was found posts that would typically be beneath the son of a great lord. Typically, Tyrion would perform admirably in these posts. Tyrion did not take any part in Robert Baratheon’s rebellion but later was a feature at King Robert’s court. He journeyed to Winterfell with King Robert , Cersei and Jaime, where Robert first asked Eddard Stark to be Hand of the King. Tyrion had already marked down Joffrey as an unpleasant and cruel child and tried to teach Joffrey something useful. After striking up an unlikely sort of friendship with Jon Snow, he accompanied him to the Wall, Tyrion eager to see one of the most stunning sites in Westeros. On the way south he was accosted by Catelyn Stark, who blamed him for the accident that had befallen her son, Bran, as well as the murder of Jon Arryn. He was imprisoned in the infamous cells of the Eyrie where Catelyn Stark and her sister Lysa Arryn expected him to crack. Realising the predicament he was in Tyrion managed to get an audience before Lysa Arryn, not trusting her young son to be an impartial judge he demanding trial by combat. Originally declaring Jaime Lannister his champion he was forced to choose someone else, a sellsword named Bronn eventually volunteering. Bronn was victorious over the Eyrie knight and Tyrion was freed. His arduous journey was not over. The Eyrie was troubled by vicious mountain clans who did not bow down to the Arryns and Tyrion and Bronn were captured.
Tyrion miraculously talked the mountain clans round to his side, promising them the weapons they would need to overthrow the Arryns and rule the Vale. They escorted him to the Lannister camp, half guarding a prisoner half protecting an ally, and joined the Lannister army fight Rob b Stark’s diversionary force. After the battle and news of Jaime’s capture, Tywin Lannister took the extraordinary step of appointing Tyrion as Hand of the King in his stead. Tyrion was of the opinion that with Jaime’s future looking bleak his father was finally looking to his other son. Tyrion left for King’s Landing to assume his new position.
Character Personality: ----Tyrion is a complicated man, on first meeting him most people , who could look past his physical disadvantages, would note his intelligence and his tendency to treat everything like a joke, on the surface taking nothing seriously and poking fun at his own misfortunes, religion, his family, and everything else. In reality there is much that Tyrion does take seriously but his irreverent attitude helps him deal with a world that has been cruel and unfair.
Tyrion is a very intelligent man, knowing that most of the pursuits of a noble were ruled out for him and likewise for ways to distinguish himself, Tyrion took to reading and education. Tyrion is a great respecter of knowledge, believing that if people read just a little more the world would be immensely better.
Despite the various obstacles Tyrion has faced in his life he is generally a very pleasant man. He likes to make other people laugh and smile, he is charitable and willing to offer, especially to those he sees as kindred spirits. Tyrion would never act against a man for absolutely no reason and would trade glory in battle for acknowledgement of good governance .
Tyrion does nurse a lot of bitterness, his father seems to not care for him, his sister hates him and his brother, while more friendly is a constant reminder of what he isn’t. So many people dismiss him entirely and lords who are drunken imbeciles look down on him because of his physical disadvantages. This has lead to Tyrion harbouring a burning desire to prove himself and also to often show up others. Tyrion cannot help but show off as to how intelligent he is and if someone does wrong him, he will not forget it, often showing them up at an opportune moment.
Aside from reading and learning Tyrion is famous for his love of women and drinking, he enjoys life, taking pleasure wherever he can find it. He can sometimes go to excess but at the same time he does have a lot of problems to forget about.

RP Sample: ----Tyrion felt odd as he and his party rode out of the Lannister camp. It wasn't the pain he still felt throughout his body, or the suspicious glances the Lannister soldiers gave him mountain clansmen, it was that he had actually been rewarded. It was an unusual sensation and one he could get used to. He was used to getting nothing, or less than nothing, nothing suggested people were neither kind nor cruel to you, whereas people were usually cruel to Tyrion. He had been made Hand of the King and by his father, more than once he had to stop himself thinking that maybe he had died and this was some bizarre afterlife. That did seem the only logical explanation.
But no, he was alive, the afterlife wouldn't hurt so much. He was Hand of the King, already his mind raced with plans. There was so much to be done in King's Landing let alone the Seven Kingdoms. He took deep breaths and regained his composure, the Hand of the King was a serious, sombre man. A broad smile spread across his face.
"Why are you so happy?" asked Bronn, he knew he already knew of his appointment, "Most of these Hands end up in a bad way, a poisoned chalice if there was one."
"My whole life has been full of poison, Bronn," said Tyrion, "I may as well get a chalice out of it. No, things will be different for me."
"Is this Joffrey of your lot a good king, then?" asked Bronn. "Easy to serve as Hand?"
"I have never met King Joffrey," said Tyrion, "But Prince Joffrey was a monster, constrained only by Robert. Only the gods know how bad King Joffrey could turn out to be."
"So, again, why are you so happy?"
"This is what I was born for Bronn," said Tyrion almost laughing, "Come, we have a long ride to King's Landing." He spurred his horse on, eager to take up his new appointment. He wondered how Cersei would take it?
