House History: House Longlake came to be around 100 years ago after the battle of Long Lake. Oris, the first of his name, lived in a small town called Foxhole that is just north of the Long Lake. After the Wildling, Raymun Red-beard, climbed over the wall and attacked the small town, killing off all the nobility in Foxhole, it seemed as though Red-beard would make it to Stark’s army before the aid of the Umber’s could reach. Oris rallied all of the remaining men within his small town and attacked the Wildling horde with nothing more than pitch forks and other farming tools. Though it was a losing battle the small folk were able to keep Raymun’s army around for a little while longer, using sneaky and stealthy techniques developed by Oris himself, enabling the Stark and Umber armies to surround the Wildlings and crush them. Artos Stark, the same man that killed Red-beard, granted Oris the town of Foxhole for his courage and valor. Oris picked the house name of Longlake in remembrance of the Artos Starks kindness and the importance of the Nights Watch. From that day forward House Longlake has always sent the second son to Winterfell to be part of the Stark’s household guard, and every third son to the Nights Watch.
